We joined a new homeschool co-op last week, and one of the classes for the kids in my girls’ age group is cake decorating. You can imagine what this inspired….

Made with Bob’s Red Mill chocolate cake mix, and we made our own frosting.

My frosting recipe:

2-3 sticks of butter that have sat at room temperature for a while.

Tons of powdered sugar (I grind white sugar in my coffee grinder, to make it fluffy, because powdered sugar contains corn starch)

Pink color: made by cooking down a little pomegranate juice (no chemicals and unknown ingredients that way!)

I beat it all together in my kitchen-aid, and that’s it!

Bon apetite!

As you can see, I am having so much fun getting to know my camera- just getting familiar with all of the automatic settings, and reading books on how to begin tweaking on my own. I won’t apologize for the large number of photos you will begin to see on here, as I get my feet wet. I just need to “do it” and not worry about how perfect each photo is! 🙂

  • I’m not sure why but this blog is loading extremely slow for me.
Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end?

I’ll check back later and see if the problem still
    exists.
