Counting It All Joy

gifts from Augenson

I struggled to think of a title for this post.  My heart is so full.

There are so many stories I’d love to tell, but I can’t tell them all.

This picture is me with the rubber band Augenson sent for me

(and I’m still wearing it!) and I’m holding the sweetest

gift ever given to a Mama- his snack that he sent me.

The gift that had me crying until 3 in the morning.

The gift that makes me ache with pain and joy.

Because this little boy, who does not always have enough to eat,

ran to grab this snack when Rich was leaving,

and handed it to Rich saying “Mum. Mum.”

I realize I have never met these boys in person, but somehow,

God really does place them in your heart in the process.

I feel like two of my kids had to be left behind when Rich came home.

And yet, in the midst of that ache, there is so much joy.

Joy at the gift of the bond growing between us and our new boys,

that this ache in them and us is proof of.

Joy at how God continues to make the path clear each day.

Joy at how God MIRACULOUSLY confirms we have been called to this.

Joy in the honor and privilege of the invitation to this journey.

Joy at seeing God do what He has said He will do.

My heart aches.  I cry a lot.

But my my heart also sings…

God is good!  All the time!

  • I don’t know how you do it Spring. God’s grace obviously. I have nightmares of leaving my children unattended for even a couple hours. I just can’t wait till you can bring your boys home.

  • Congratulations on what God is doing in your life! Our Haitian adoption was one of the most amazing, gut wrenching, faith building things that God has ever worked in our lives! But we are so grateful for all that He has taught us, and now our precious boys have been home 6 months. I know the heartbreak of having your children so far away, but there is such joy in seeing God bring it all together!

Many Blessings to you on the journey!
