There have been some amazing looking fall recipes coming into my inbox the last couple days, and in case you don’t follow these blogs, I wanted to take a day to post some here. And while I’m doing that, let me explain why I became addicted to food-blogs (allergy-free ones) and why I am always passing on links to others!
First, the best thing about recipe-blogs is the comments!! I like them even better than the All-recipes feedback comments, because in food-blogs, the creator of the recipe will often be in conversation with the readers. I mentioned a few days ago, about learning to make gluten-free donuts from Karina at the GlutenFreeGoddess. I was able to ask her a question in the comments, and she replied. My next batches of donuts have been flawless because of her advice. You can also read the comments of others who tried the recipe. This is how I began to learn to cook, going beyond just following recipes, to understanding the why of the recipe.
I also really enjoy reading the journey of the author, their journey in allergy-free eating, what led them to make the recipe, how they approach the cooking etc. This is so encouraging and instructional for me. I am currently subscribed to about 7 allergy-free cooking blogs. I don’t always read every one as they come in. But the ones that are not something I am looking for right now, I archive in my recipe folder. And of course, I forward them to allergy-free people I know, and people who love them and cook for them, through email and Facebook.
So! Here are some Fall Food Links! 🙂
Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (Gluten Free Goddess)
Dairy Free Caramel Corn (The Mixing Bowl Diary)
Apple Cider Donuts (The Mixing Bowl Diary)
Pumpkin Spice Bars (With Maple Frosting)(Gluten Free Goddess) {I have made these 4 times, and they are divinely delicious! Brought them to family thanksgiving last year, and NO ONE could tell they were gluten-free!)
Scalloped Apples Desert in the Slow Cooker (A Year of Slow Cooking)
Stew Seasoning (Spunky Coconut) (I don’t use any seasoning mixes since going allergy-free… post coming this week on how I learned to make soups/stews without any of those handy mixes! But this one that came into my email has me wanting to try it)
The Best Vegan Macaroni and Cheese (Gluten Free Goddess) Fall is all about a return to comfort food in my kitchen. I have made this mac and “cheese” a number of times- so hearty, and tasty. I even blogged about it! 🙂
Chicken and Dumplings recipe coming this week!
